Who Is Participating In COP26?

What are the goals of COP26?
For nearly three decades, governments around the world have met almost every year to take a global response to a climate emergency. These include the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which sets emissions limits for developed countries to be reached by 2012, and the 2015 Paris Agreement in which countries around the world agreed to step up efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Another goal of COP26 is to increase climate finance to help developing countries switch to clean energy and adapt to climate change. Rich countries are also expected to significantly increase financial support to help the most vulnerable countries adapt to the warming effects and build economies independent of fossil fuels. Governments and intergovernmental bodies are calling on financial institutions to help support the transition through climate finance. Under a carbon trading scheme, countries will be able to buy emission reductions from other parts of the world and offset them to achieve their own climate goal, effectively creating a compensated market for countries.
